New Book Dispels Sexual Confusion through Christ’s Teachings and Real-life Testimonies

Andrew Comiskey. Rediscovering our Lost Fullness: A Guide to Sexual Integration. Manchester, NH: Sophia Institute Press, 2022. Paperback $17.95. 224 pages. Available from the publisher.

Sexual woundedness and confusion are endemic in our culture. Tragically, many suffer abuse and are exposed to pornography at a young age and the aftermath of such experiences, coupled with agendas to promote “free sex,” genderlessness, and the gay lifestyle, leaves many uncertain of what their response should be. Even some within the Church have developed, promoted, or accepted distorted ways of thinking. Rediscovering our Lost Fullness: A Guide to Sexual Integration will help readers find certainty and healing for themselves and others.

Author Andrew Comiskey—who founded Desert Stream/Living Waters Ministries to help the sexually and relationally broken—shares how he was ultimately inspired to embrace the Catholic faith, in part, by the Church’s teachings on marriage and family.

Dr. Christopher West, Th.D., President, Theology of the Body Institute, wrote, “The Latin word integer means ‘whole,’ and therefore to speak of ‘sexual integration’ means growing toward wholeness as the man or woman God created each of us to be. Because it’s a long and difficult journey, we need experienced guides who can help show us the way. Andrew Comiskey, whom I’ve known personally for many years, is just such a guide, and . . . [his book] will most certainly help you along your way toward rediscovering your lost fullness.”

Comiskey provides his own remarkable testimony and shares the stories of several others, from various backgrounds who endured painful struggles, but found new vision and life. Within these pages, readers will find authentic ways to grow in intimacy with God and experience the joy of living in freedom as His child.

A popular author, Comiskey has also written Pursuing Sexual Wholeness, Strength in Weakness, Naked Surrender: Coming Home To Our True Sexuality, and the Living Waters healing program. A reviewer said of Comiskey’s writing: “30 years of experience in accompanying people with uncertainties in their sexual identity come together to a very loving, self-critical and differentiated approach to homosexuality—without therefore adapting to political correctness. As a Catholic, he is in full agreement with the doctrine of the Bible and the Catholic Church—and leads to a deeper understanding of them.”

Comiskey lays out how to order one’s life to God’s plan and overcome temptations to idolatry by following Him. He further relates how to align one’s thoughts and will to objective truth and natural law. Additionally, readers will see how fidelity and the gift of self in marriage reflects the gift of Christ’s sacrifice for His bride the Church.

The Holy Eucharist and Confession are healing sacraments that give us the strength to live chastity according to our state in life and in the battle to become holy, Comiskey attests. Divine Mercy provides the secret to destroying labels, restoring true relationships in Christ, and cultivating spiritual chastity.
