Long-awaited Traditional Catholic Planners Fulfill Key Spiritual and Practical Needs

Liturgy of the Home. Fiat: Traditional Catholic Planner. Manchester, NH: Sophia Institute Press, 2022. The planner is available in two sizes: full 8.5 x 11 inches ($44.99) or compact 5.5 x 8.5 inches ($37.99). Available from the publisher.

I recently ordered the larger size Fiat: Traditional Catholic Planner and am inspired both by its beauty and practicality. Earlier this year, Liturgy of the Home illustrated traditional calendars, which have become a media sensation. They also developed coloring books which I ordered for my nieces and nephews. I think that this planner is also sure to be a bestseller.

“In the Fiat Planner, you will see all the images we’ve illustrated over the past year plus, and all the monthly dedications we’ve shared on our membership, re-presented within the pages of a functional, sharp, and beautiful planner!,” shared Kateri Lawless in her Liturgy of the Home blog.

As I flipped through the first few pages of the planner, I saw everything from the Angelus Chant to personal goals (physical, spiritual, intellectual, financial, work, and relationships). This is the ideal planner to help keep me organized and on track! The artwork for each month is breathtaking and accompanied by the traditional dedication and a timely prayer.

There is ample room to write notes, make lists, plan meals, and chart weekly goals and habits. There are traditional feasts listed for each day as well as splendid images of the saints. Each week has seasonal Scripture and saints quotes too. A reviewer enthused: “This looks wonderful! Excellent idea and you’ve streamlined it to the essentials, removing the clutter.”

The calendar features:

  • a monthly goal-setting page
  • spaces for daily planning each week
  • weekly to-do lists (e.g. meal planning)
  • spaces for weekly goals, habit trackers, and things to follow-up on
  • extra spaces for notes and things to remember
  • customizable charts (e.g. for budgeting)

“We’ve truly strived to bring the best of beauty and usability together with this planner. We’ve used simple, traditional icons to indicate days of fasting and abstinence, holy days of obligation, first Fridays and Saturdays, classes of feasts, and liturgical colors,” continued Lawless. “The weekly spreads have a very classic layout, and yet the art elevates it to something that has never been offered in a planner before.”

Fiat: Traditional Catholic Planner offers primary feasts for each day according to the traditional 1962 calendar. It includes days of fasting and abstinence, First Fridays and Saturdays, Holy Days of Obligation, Ember Days, and primary secular holidays. Also contained are the classes of feasts and vestments’ colors.

This planner is perfect for personal or work use. (I wish that I would have had this when I worked as a teacher! It would have been perfect to write weekly lesson plan notes and there is extra space in the back for future notes.) The Fiat: Traditional Catholic Planner is definitely something that I want to give as a gift to others as well, not just because it is user friendly but also because it will help pass on the traditions of our Faith.

Members of the media may send an email to Sophia Institute Press’ Director of Publicity, Sarah Lemieux at slemieux@SophiaInstitute.com to receive a physical or digital copy of Fiat: Traditional Catholic Planner, and/or to schedule an interview.
