Lego Books Equip Readers with Reasons for our Worship at Mass and Sacramental Belief

Kevin and Mary O’Neill. The Holy Mass: On Earth as It Is in Heaven. Manchester, NH: Sophia Institute Press, 2022. Hardcover. $34.95. 240 pages. Available from the publisher.

Sophia Press has released a vivid, hard cover, “Lego book,” The Holy Mass: On Earth as It Is in Heaven, laid out in comic-book format. Readers will recall Kevin and Mary O’Neill’s bestselling Catechism of the Seven Sacraments which made faith teachings accessible to everyone young and old. It is a fun way to relate the mysteries of our Faith to a new generation.

In this latest offering on the Mass, families and classes will learn about God’s plan of salvation and the Holy Eucharist–the source and summit of our Faith. Both books help readers explore how the Old Testament is fulfilled in the New through endearing Lego characters photos, story adventures, and helpful resources for quick referencing.

Popular blogger, Ginny Kochis, enthused, “Lego is a gateway for my son. Show him anything that involves those little plastic bricks and you’ve hooked his interest. The O’Neill’s new book, The Holy Mass: On Earth as It Is in Heaven, is an answer to this mother’s prayer.”

Through accessible dialogue, charming Catholic friends Fulton and Cynthia break open the meaning of transubstantiation and the benefits of going to Mass. In a relational way, children—and adults—will learn about Bible history, the significance of the Sacraments, and each part of the Mass.

“If you’re raising a child who struggles with Mass or wants to know the hows and whys behind it, The Holy Mass: On Earth as It Is in Heaven, is absolutely for you,” continued Ginny Kochis.

It explains the essentials of what we believe as Catholics, Eucharistic miracles, and God’s covenant relationship with us. Also highlighted is devotion to Our Lady and examples of the saints.

As the story of our redemption unfolds, readers will experience God’s invitation to the Eternal Promised Land.

Martina Kreitzer, blogger, shared, “I knew this [Catechism of the Seven Sacraments] was a book for the Catholic domestic Church arsenal when my 10-year-old son was drawn to it like a moth to the light. It had all the hallmarks perfect for a Catholic kiddo. Sacraments—check. Photo illustrated pages—check. Comic style storytelling—check. Use of Legos—check, Check, CHECK!”

With these books parents have a tool for teaching their children about our rich, historical faith, in particular the Holy Eucharist and the power of God’s love in the sacraments.

Plus, now I know what I’m getting everyone for Christmas.
