Essential Book on the End Times and the Antichrist saluted by Vatican Newspaper

Fr. Livio Fanzaga. Wrath of God. Manchester, NH: Sophia Institute Press, 2022. Paperback $18.95. Ebook $9.99. Available from the publisher.

“The Eastern world, it is exploding
Violence flarin’, bullets loadin.’”

So begins the song “Eve of Destruction” sung by Barry McGuire. Though released in 1965, many of the sentiments still ring true today.

In Wrath of God, Fr. Livio Fanzaga provides clarity about end times through the lens of biblical and Church teachings, along with writings of the saints and select revelations. It also weighs the thoughts of Hugh Benson’s Lord of the World and Vladimir Soloviev’s Tale of the Antichrist.

“My aim is to present and explore with you theme of the Antichrist,” he writes. “While the end of the world and the appearance of the Antichrist is often overlooked by the preaching of the Church, it has become the object of numerous private ‘messages’ imparted in presumed private revelations.”

Fr. Fanzaga further explains, “There has been no shortage of ‘private revelations’… Some presumed revelations made by Jesus and Our Lady current in Catholic circles can be perplexing. Among simple people, they feed the legend of the Antichrist who is said to occupy the chair of Peter or those in its immediate vicinity. Indeed, the theme of the corruption of the Church has been so overworked that it could be asked whether such so-called revelation, produced in Catholic circles, does not echo the fond themes of the sects of every era.”

In these pages, readers will find straightforward discussions on topics such as what Jesus taught about the end of the world and how to understand private revelations. Based on credible sources, they will also learn what the world and Church will be like in the end times. Moreover, they will find views that Catholics should have in the face of evil and ways that the Antichrist will control others.

A reader reflected about the book: “It’s even more useful as a reference because it mentions a lot of books and saints that have written about the antichrist in the past. The prophet Daniel and St. John are well-known, but there’s St. Hildegard of Bingen, St. Brigid, and Zephaniah . . . So really, it’s a must-have for anyone wishing to ‘interpret the signs’ on this road of life.”

“The Antichrist, as outlined here, forms part of the Christian message. It is part of our faith and belongs to the Christian vision of history.” (Fr. Livio Fanzaga)

    1. Is the Antichrist the end of selfish behaviors and concentration of the
things of heaven, ex. faith, hope and charity….
