Episode II of Mass of the Ages Trilogy

Delves Deeper Into the Origin of the Novus Ordo

Stunning film series celebrating the beauty of the TLM releases new episode

Following the tremendously positive reception of Episode I with over 1 million views to date, the creators of the Mass of the Ages trilogy announce the release of Episode II, which premiered on the Feast of the Ascension, May 26 at 3pm EDT. In contrast to the storytelling approach of Episode I, which offered a beautiful and compelling overview of the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM),  Episode II assumes an investigative posture, diving deeper into the origin of the New Mass, the key players in Rome, and its impact on the Catholic Church.

Since the launch of the first episode on August 15, 2021, the Mass of the Ages creators have been amazed by the worldwide response to a celebration of Mass sometimes characterized as unapproachable and hard to understand. Many Catholics were inspired to attend a TLM for the very first time, and even Protestants and Muslims expressed interest. Others have reported that the film helped them or a family member revert back to Catholicism after being away from the Church.

We’ve all experienced the struggle with explaining the ‘why’ behind the Latin Mass. We want the world to experience it but come up against barriers people build for why it’s not for them,” says Director and Producer Cameron O’Hearn. “Episode I didn’t attack those barriers but instead cut straight to the heart of them through the power of story. I was actually expecting a lot of change as a result of the film…hopefully that people would decide to go to the Latin Mass for the first time, and we received many letters and messages with just that response. My biggest surprise, however, is how overwhelmingly positive, encouraging, and supportive the viewers of the Mass of the Ages have been. This is truly the fruit of God’s great work that we have the privilege to be a part of.  May the Lord continue to work mighty wonders for His glory!”

With consistent dedication to professional cinematography that showcases the ancient beauty and transcendence of the Roman Rite, Episode II takes a closer look at the Second Vatican Council and the subsequent changes that were made to the longstanding rites and rituals of the Church. The cliffhanger ending of Episode I left viewers with a lot of questions, so Episode II seeks to resolve those by taking viewers on a historical and emotional journey that will reveal the answers along the way.

“We were all extremely happy with how Episode II turned out when we had our team screening, and we are confident that audiences everywhere will love it even more than Episode I,” says co-producer Jacob Tate. “Bringing this story to life in a gorgeous film rather than a lengthy history book will make it accessible to millions of people from laymen to bishops. The investigation into how the Mass was changed will shock you!”
