Belonging to Christ: Catholic Poetry

Belonging to Christ is a collection of poetry that shares the Catholic faith and experiences of a millennial woman in the twenty-first century as she journeys on the walk in holy cadence towards the beautiful gates of heaven.

The following poem is an excerpt from Christina M. Sorrentino’s new book, Belonging to Christ: Catholic Poetry:

The Loud Silence

O glorious St. Joseph,

he is most chaste and just.

The Son of David awakes from slumber;

takes the New Eve as his spouse.

Guardian of the Virgin,

who carries Jesus in her womb,

he protects God’s Living Tabernacle;

the Ark of the Covenant, revealed.

In the shadows,

a hidden presence,

he plays a pivotal role.

In the story of salvation,

the Husband of Mary,

never utters a single word.

Faithful Foster-Father,

the Guardian of our Lord,

is entrusted with a precious treasure,

Jesus, the Divine Messiah,

Who becomes the cornerstone.

With the melody of self-surrender,

silence in a tumultuous world,

the obedient servant

quiets his own voice to listen;

follows the promptings of the Lord.

Belonging to Christ: Catholic Poetry is now available for purchase on Amazon in Kindle e-book and print format.
