From the time I started to become more heavily engaged with politics and culture, I took a particular interest in the pro-life movement and abortion debate.
Learning that over 60,000,000 preborn babies have been aborted since Roe v. Wade was jarring to me, especially in a society that rightly and regularly condemns the loss of 6 million Jews in the Holocaust. Linked together, a “lack of personhood” lies at the root of both of these atrocities, an idea that the world still hasn’t been able to fully reject despite becoming supposedly more compassionate.
It becomes increasingly grating to hear politicians boast of unfeasible healthcare plans while silencing “anti-science” opponents who also point to the fact that life begins at conception for those who are the most vulnerable. Now knowing that hair color, eye color, a unique set of DNA and more are determined in this moment, I sought ways to fight for life.
Those interested in advocating for life can take on many different roles including voting pro-life first, contacting state representatives, witnessing outside of abortion clinics, purchasing supplies for mothers in need, volunteering time at pregnancy centers, praying the Rosary daily, along with many other methods. By doing these things, we are not only providing a voice to the voiceless, but also acknowledging Scripture,
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
and before you were born I consecrated you…”
Relating to my journey, I later came across an incredible pro-life organization called Live Action and was impressed by their social media outreach and founder. Live Action was founded by a fellow Catholic, Lila Rose, who began undercover investigations at the age of 18. Today, Live Action has millions of followers combined across its social platforms and celebrated 1 billion video views this year. Through education, storytelling and investigative reporting, Live Action is shifting public opinion on abortion and saving lives. Sharing the organization’s content, donating and signing petitions are great ways to help Live Action, but offering support through AmazonSmile seemed particularly easy and effective.
If you’re not aware of AmazonSmile, it’s a program by Amazon that allows you to purchase items while having Amazon donate 0.5% of each purchase to a charitable organization of your choosing. It costs nothing, and the donation by Amazon triggers with each purchase you would make anyway. For me, the charitable organization I chose was Live Action. For any donation, the organization claims that for each dollar received, their content can reach 34 people. Despite the donation being a fraction of each purchase, even a dollar generated makes a difference. To me, this is one of the best ways to support the pro-life movement on a budget.
You can choose Live Action as your charitable organization on your laptop, PC, or mobile browser first, then activate it on a mobile device. Once you’re set with both, make sure when you’re making purchases, that you’re on the AmazonSmile version of the website when you’re on your computer. The app should automatically turn into the AmazonSmile version after you activate it on the app. This ensures that the items you search for are eligible for the donation. By spreading the word about AmazonSmile and Live Action, you can amplify your impact!

The facts I’ve learned on my pro-life journey have made it clear to me how important it is to not turn a blind eye to abortion, especially as a Catholic. Before all of the hopes and dreams that politicians promise, the right to exist must be protected. Hundreds of thousands of babies need our help each year, and I want to be there to extend a hand as they remain at the doors of our hearts with our Lord and knock.
Now more than ever is the time to take action, and thanks to programs like AmazonSmile, there are easier ways to advocate for the unborn. Please consider supporting Live Action’s important work as well, and with your help, we can push towards a world that no longer denies the sacred right to life based on circumstance or “lack of personhood.”
