Sheen declared Venerable

Exciting news: Pope Benedict has approved the heroic virtues of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, declaring him Venerable, and bringing him one step closer to beatification.  Now that the mighty Sheen has been declared Venerable the next step is for an alleged miracle to be submitted for review by the Congregation for the Causes of Saints.  If it is declared a true miracle then Sheen will be beatified.  You can read more at Catholic News Service.

For those who may not know, almost two years ago my son James Fulton was delivered a stillborn due to a tightly tied true knot in his umbilical cord.  After being without a pulse for over an hour, James came back to life.  It was believed that James would die or be severely disabled because of how long his body had been without oxygen.  Instead he’s currently playing with his older siblings.  During that hour that he was pulseless my husband and I asked for Archbishop Sheen’s intercession and we believe that James was brought back to life and healed by Jesus Christ because of Sheen’s powerful prayers.  My son’s story was investigated by a tribunal and may be the alleged miracle submitted for Sheen’s beatification.

I’m sure you can imagine that we are super, way over the top, let’s have a drink to celebrate EXCITED!

*UPDATE: James’ alleged miraculous healing will be submitted for Venerable Fulton Sheen’s beatification!

  1. this is a wonderful announcement to offset the sad new out of the Supreme Court today. But just think, now instead of refering to him as Archbishop Fulton Sheen, we can now address his as Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen. I hope to see the day when Venerable becomes Blessed or even Saint. Please pray for the additional miracles needed for this to happen.
