Logic, Science and History Prevail!

I came across an amazing documentary called “180” paralleling the Holocaust and abortion. It is produced by Living Waters, a ministry run by Ray Comfort. Comfort was born a Jew, and, while he still identifies himself as such, is an Evangelical Christian pastor in California. Comfort begins the movie by discussing with people what they would do if in the kind of situations Nazi-occupied Germany put citizens in on a regular basis, and moving towards bigger life-centered questions of valuing all human life, or just some. It is well-worth a watch or two:

The Judgement Day portion was a little heavy-handed, and looking over Comfort’s personal website and theology, I do not agree with many of his stances. For one, evolution may be a theory, but it is certainly a viable one on a micro-level, especially since we believe all things are possible with God! Nonetheless, Comfort seems to me to be a fantastic human being and follower of Christ, forwarding our Lord’s message and commandments in this world. Living Waters has done a fantastic job with this production, and it well-deserves much praise and publicity.

The website is 180movie.com and heartchanger.com; the Facebook page is 180moviecom; the Twitter account is @180movie with a #180movie hashtag. The movie premiered on September 26, 2011 and has already been viewed over a million times! The film is offered for free on the website for sharing and viewing. They also welcome feedback.

A sign in Ireland

Pass this movie on with friend, family and colleagues. Every issue we face in the poll booth and in daily life does not matter if we ever think it is okay to deprive another human being of their life. It is no mere accident that the Declaration of Independence gives us Americans the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The Founders didn’t guarantee happiness. They didn’t guarantee a good life. But they could give us the liberty to pursue both!

I especially like the way Comfort logically explains human life in logical and scientific terms, as well as giving historical evidence for what happens when human life is not valued. To put a perspective on abortion: The Holocaust in Europe resulted in over 11 million deaths. The Soviet gulags in the 20th century resulted in over 50 million deaths. Abortions in America since 1973 are totaling over 53 million and counting. In America, an estimated 4,000 babies are aborted every day. That means, every 200 days, we pass the number of people killed in the 1994 Rwandan genocide (800,000). We’ve killed over 66 times that number of people now.

Abortion is infancide because it specifically murders babies. It does not target children, or adolescents, only babies. It does not give that infant a chance to develop or live or even defend itself. Any action that choice away from another person can never be right.

If you’d like a testimony from an abortion survivor who did not have a high quality of living growing up, Gianna Jessen will joyfully tell it to you! She calls abortion our “silent holocaust”:

  1. Yes! I loved this movie! I wrote about it a couple of weeks ago in my blog, as sort of a follow up to my post on comparing abortion to the Holocaust… we really need to spread this movie around.

  2. On the numbers: estimates on the Rwandan genocide are around 800,000 and top out at around 1 million. The population of the country today is only about 11.4 million. In order to get 80 million people, you have to take the entire populations of Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, and 2/3 of the population of Uganda. The Rwandan genocide was bad, but it didn’t exterminate all of central east Africa.

  3. Wow… both of these videos are amazing! I had never seen them before. Thanks for sharing!
Another great documentary about abortion and genocide is http://www.maafa21.com
It’s two hours long but my favorite documentary ever.
