The Opposition

There has been so much hate, anger, and lies surrounding this election. People are claiming this election will be the most important one they have experienced in their lifetime, and I believe it, though not for the reasons some might think.

The cruelty and division this election has created is unlike any I have ever witnessed. We are all turning against each other, making deep separation among brothers and sisters. The family of God has been wounded. Satan has done an incredible job of injecting lies into our nations, and those lies have been ignited to the point that we have lost sight of who the true enemy we are fighting really is.

Politics seems to elicit a them versus us attitude. We are forced to choose a side, and thus start to see the other side as enemies. We no longer see the humans making up the opposition. I have been saying a novena specifically for this election and part of the novena reads,

“Lord, we pray for our political opponents — that we may love them as You love them.”

Instead of placing our focus on the opposite side and the desire to win, conquer or defeat it, we need to return to the teachings of Jesus Christ and place our faith and hope in the Lord. There is an enemy worth paying attention to, but it is not a political party — it is Satan and his demons who prowl this world with the sole goal of ruining every single soul in this world.

“Draw your strength from the Lord and from His mighty power.
Put
on the armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the tactics of the Devil. For our struggle is not with flesh and blood but with the principalities, with the powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens.”
~ Ephesians 6:10-11

This Biblical passage emphasizes and directly singles out the opposition we need to fight. If we turn against one another and forget the true evil that inhabits this world, we stand to lose much more than just a political election.

“With all prayer and supplication, pray at every opportunity in the Spirit.
To
that end, be watchful with all perseverance and supplication for all the holy ones and also for me, that speech may be given me to open my mouth,to make known with boldness the mystery of the Gospel for which I am an ambassador in chains,so that I may have the courage to speak as I must.”
~ Ephesians 6:19-20

I am writing this blog praying that I may have the boldness and courage to speak the truth that I have seen and heard through the Holy Spirit. I also hope I have done my part, upheld my responsibilities, and can stand before the Lord with complete faith that I have remained true to the Word of God.

Once I moved to New York City I decided to start a blog about my experiences in the big city. The Holy Spirit continues to inspire me to write. I hope anyone who reads my blogs finds inspiration too.

  2. Reading this after the election gives me a sense of relief that the campaign of hate and bitterness is over, but there is still so much residual anger left. How do we go forward when we can no longer trust our election process? Can we really believe in the leaders we have chosen for our country? Only prayer and faith in the greatest Leader of all can sustain us. You have stated the true source of the evil present in our world and he is the one that must be fought by putting on the armor of God.
