SOCIALIS Saturday: Many of us have small children. All of us were small children, once upon a time. As a parent I find some aspects of Lent difficult to explain to children, which means that in trying to do so, there are ample opportunities for some Lenten laughs as children try to express themselves.

Trying to prepare my kids for Lent I was *trying* to explain how and why we make sacrifices and how it makes God happy. I suggested we might eat less ice cream or watch less television. My almost 4 yr old, Lydia, sternly said, “NO! God would NOT like that!”
