NAPLES, FL⎪ MARIANEWS.COM – MariaNews.com conducted a phone interview with BJ Barone, founder of 4000Babies.com to learn more about his websites ministry.
Mr. Barone (BJ) and his wife have lived in Naples, Florida for over 20 years. They have always been involved in pro life work. Upon moving to Florida, Mrs. Baron felt a calling to transition from pro-life political work to pro-life ministry work. Specifically, she wanted to help women! Mrs. Baron got involved with the as a volunteer counselor. Soon she became a board member and has now been the Chairman of the Board for over 15 years. She helped the organization grow into a medical clinic that provides free ultra sounds to women. Last year alone, the organization saw over 6000 women, provided over 1000 free ultra sounds and saved over 1000 babies!
Sometime ago, BJ was listening to catholic radio when he heard some statistics on how many children (over 50 million) had been aborted since Roe v. Wade. He said, “the number is really difficult to comprehend, and so, I got to thinking, we need something people can grasp. “
BJ broke the number down by years, months and days. He then rounded the number down to 4000.
So, over 4000 babies will die today from surgical abortions in the United States. And, 4000 babies will die tomorrow and so on. (This doesn’t include the day after pill or birth control)
BJ said, “People should be able to grasp that number, I wanted to create my message around something people could grasp.”
“When you hear 4000 babies will die today, that gets your attention! Over 3000 people died on September 11, people understand these numbers.”
BJ has a background in marketing and so he decided to create a marketing campaign to promote something he feels can lead to real solutions.
BJ: “We’re creating a conversation starter, and so I decided to make a lapel pin with just the number 4000 on it”.
Starting the conversation is the first part. People will ask, “what does 4000 mean?” The answer: 4000 babies will die today from surgical abortions.
So what is the solution?
After someone hears the daily statistic, the next step is to offer a solution: Over 90% of women who see an ultrasound of their baby will choose life! Did you know it costs clinics approximately $600 for each free ultra sound that they offer? They need help!

Pray: BJ wanted to create a universal, pro life prayer for people of all faiths. He encourages people to make this page their homepage by bookmarking it. He said, “When we wake up in the morning we’re likely not thinking about the 4000 babies who will be aborted today, but I want to!”

Donate: This section currently has limited functionality and is still developing. The goal is simple. People will be able to donate money to provide ultrasounds to life affirming medical clinics of their choice. By entering in a zip code, the site will be linked directly to medical clinics. 4000babies does not take any money from this service; this is strictly a way for people to help save life by supporting ultrasounds for women.
Volunteer: This section is also developing but will have 2 main features. First, people will be able to select life affirming medical clinics based on zip code to learn more about specific volunteer needs of that facility. Second, people can support and promote the 4000 babies a day message through BJ’s training program.
The training program will include the following:
– “4000” lapel pin
– 1000 business cards with the talking points and website link (to hand out)
– MP3 Audio training lesson on how to present people with the talking points designed by BJ.
Supporters of the training ministry will be asked to pay the cost of the lapel pin and the business cards. Additionally, supporters will be asked to make a commitment of evangelization by wearing the pin and sharing the message with people who ask what 4000 means.
